get ready for the sf zine fest! in this class, you'll take your (finished) zine guts and house them in an awesome DIY letterpress cover. this is a start-to-finish class; by the end of the second sessions, your zines will be ready to go.
the first session will be a design session: you will decide whether you want to make your zine cover (a) using found imagery and wood type in our print shop (b) from a block you carve yourself or (c) from a digital file output to polymer plate. you will also decide what cover paper you want to use, and what ink color, and calculate the depth of your spine.
the second session will be a full day of printing, where each zinester signs up for time on-press, though everyone's encouraged to come for the whole day: you'll learn much more that way! between the two sessions, you will have carved your block or picked up your plate, and your paper will be prepped, so we can get right on press. in the evening we will have an optional folding/binding/stapling party, with papercuts, snacks, and love.
class fee is $125 plus materials. sign up here.
